About Me

Hello, my name is Cody Gardner, and I have been dedicated to the position of goalie at a competitive level for the past six years. I was born in San Jose and grew up immersing myself in competitive soccer, futsal, and hockey, primarily as a goalie. My journey began when I tried out for the San Jose Jr Sharks at the age of nine and made their 10B team. We had a remarkable season, culminating in the unique experience of qualifying for the Silver Stick International Finals in Pelham, Ontario. A personal triumph for me in Canada was facing an undefeated team in the semi-finals, shutting them down, and contributing to our team's advancement into the championship game.

The COVID pandemic presented a unique challenge during my first peewee year, limiting us to only four games in a tournament in Utah at the end of the regular season. Despite this, my family's move to Colorado did not deter my goalie journey. I quickly adapted to my new surroundings and joined the Arapahoe Warriors, a team coached by a former Thunderbirds coach, Justin Waldron. Our team had a successful season, playing numerous league and tournament games. As the sole goalie, I took on the role of an Ironman, minding the net for all 60 games that season. One of the highlights of this season was the opportunity to play pond hockey with the local high school team in Owatonna, Minnesota, showcasing my adaptability and versatility.

During the 2023-2024 season, I had the privilege of playing for the Littleton Hawks and Rock Canyon JV High Plains teams. This year was filled with memorable moments, including our triumphant win at the Pittsburgh MLK tournament, where I posted a shutout in the championship game, and our thrilling overtime victory for the league championship. The spring season was particularly special as I joined my older brother and played high school hockey in the High Plains Hockey League, a testament to my enduring passion for the sport.

I am currently a student at Denver’s TPH Academy, where I am fortunate to have access to daily ice and gym workouts while pursuing my education through online classes. I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance I receive from Elite Edge, who provide me with invaluable on-ice goalie and off-ice mental training.
